《填海》文字遊戲簡單來說，就是「詞語接龍」，是一套以下棋方式，和對手輪流填上詞語，奪取分數的遊戲，開始填上第一個詞語之後，每一步都需要接駁上一步的詞語，可以連接一個字，也可以同時連接多於一個字。
填了八十八個字之後，得到高分者為勝。
玩家按照成績會被分配到四大級別，成績最優秀者為「狀元進士級」，其次為「會元貢士級」，再次者為「解元舉人級」，最後是「寒酸秀才級」。
四大級別以對手為比較，用特定的方程式分配，隨着玩家的成績高低起跌，玩家也會被安排到相應的級別，可以晉級也可以降級。
官階從下而上，由從九品到正一品，分為十八品，以玩家累積分數來晉陞，分數越高，官階越高。
玩家開始的時候還未當官，會從書生開始做起，然後成為秀才，小吏大吏之後，才正式當官。
官階跟四大級別不同，只會上升，不會下降。
《填海》是最輕鬆悠閑的文字遊戲，可以在等人的時候，如廁的時候，無聊的時候玩一玩，毫無壓力，透過遊戲互動更可跟朋友聯繫感情。
活用詞語也能讓自己的語言能力得到提升，是個簡單卻又刺激的益智遊戲。
